Technical Capabilities and Features
Explore the functionality that powers Canopy—from automation and device control to customization, remote access, and protocol support. This section explains what Canopy can technically do.
Can Canopy support various digital signage media formats?
Canopy has existing integrations to leading digital signage providers and is constantly growing our partnerships. Contact our sales team to ask about your solution.
Can I define specific conditions for self-healing actions?
Canopy is natively aware of the state of the device that has triggered the automation to run, therefore building conditional logic based on that state is simple and straightforward. The resulting actions can also take cues from the device state to make informed decisions on the correct path to take.
Does Canopy allow for sending commands to multiple devices at once?
Yes, Canopy supports sending an action to a single device, all devices, or a filtered set of devices.
Does Canopy handle credit card (PCI) related data?
Canopy only collects telemetry data from devices, and therefore does not touch any credit card data. Additionally, Canopy is both SOC Type II and GDPR compliant and works with partners to ensure effective audits when needed.
Does Canopy have a way of accessing a device through a remote desktop?
Canopy supports remote desktop through our Splashtop integration on Windows devices or via secure SSH on Linux devices (via a reverse-tunnel architecture). Customers can also bring their own license for other remote desktop tools and easily integrate/launch those tools from the Canopy portal.
How are Canopy's automated workflows different than other RMMs?
Because Canopy is more flexible in terms of the device data it can ingest and the custom remote actions that you can develop, it enables more possibilities for corrective actions and responses that you can take.
How do I deploy my custom software packages through Canopy?
Canopy provides a standard packaging structure that allows you to create an installation package that delivers your software and the installation instructions to your devices. The deployment can be tracked as it advances across the devices that you specify and can be automated to occur when devices meet necessary criteria.
How does Canopy handle unique device protocols and interfaces?
Leaf ships with a number of built in plugins that allow for the collection of a wide range of data from different types of protocols and interfaces. The Canopy team has also built custom plugins for unique situations and offers customers the ability to build their own plugins when necessary or desired.
How does Canopy help with content delivery?
Canopy is not a CMS, but can help make sure the CMS solution is reachable and delivering current content to the device.
How does an automated workflow get kicked off?
Canopy workflows can be triggered from the events generated by your devices or through changes to your KPI metrics. Workflows can perform simple or complex tasks by automating processes that meet the needs of your business.
How is Canopy installed?
Canopy is a SaaS offering and requires no installation for the enterprise component. To facilitate connectivity with remote devices, our software agent, Leaf, is installed on hardware and, in turn Leaf connects to Canopy in the cloud
